That's a good choice if you are on a stolen pension budget without a min balance. Other than spending the first half of my career at the bottom of the seniority list, I've had nothing but upward movement. I'm not embarrassed to enjoy my windfall. Why spend a decade as a bitter WBA, when I can live it up and drive around in Senior's Min Balance.

oh yeah, I mean buy anything you want. It’s an undeniably rad car, it just isn’t for me. I have a ton of fun working on my cars and the tinkering and building is as much a part of my ownership experience as driving.

that’s not for everyone, and I encourage everyone to find their bliss. Just not in a dorky corvette.

The Ferrari Chat forums are full of owners who advocate turning wrenches. On something like an F430 it's a great way to learn the car, plus it takes the sting out of routine maintenance cost. A brand new one comes with 7 years of maintenance.

I'd like a mid 60"s non collector Corvette for my tinkering car.

not trying to act pretentious about it, but I think we are talking very different levels of wrenching. I don’t think a modern Ferrari is nearly as approachable for the sorts of things I do.

That's why my wrenching car would be a mid 60s Chevy.

I had an F430 for several years. Did all the maintenance myself. Took it to the track and cruised around town. There is no magic Ferrari dust under the bonnet. Sure, there are some things you need special equipment (scanners/programmers) for, but you would only need those things for major repairs like engine/transmission replacement. But then that’s not typical ownership. Run of the mill maintenance is easy. Literally no more complicated than a Toyota. Pistons go up and down, wheels go round and round. Nothing special.

What do you have to hide?

Unlike you and your gutless alter ego, I wouldn't doxx you.

I mean, at this point an F430 is hardly a modern Ferrari anymore right? Introduced in 2004, so probably designed in the early 2000s. That's dangerously close to a 20 year-old design. I'm guessing new Ferraris are not nearly as easy to work on as an F430. Hopefully I'm wrong though.
