Don’t kid yourself. You get your extra 2 years in whatever seat you’re in when it happens. If you still retire at 65, then chances are you lost 2 widebody captain years to whatever seat you’re currently in.
But don’t you know that not everyone will stay till 67???

I’ve heard this story before. Anyone that wanted to retire early it took the VEOP, I don’t know if the statistic still 63 avg retirement.

But what is really disturbing is that you are showing with this post that you are more interested in pilots that do NOT have a job here and protecting THEM than you do those on your current seniority list. Why is that? (don't worry, I don't expect an answer as it is painfully obvious.)
Your retirement is consistant with the seniority system you were hired into. Your retirement was already delayed 5 years. Your retirement bennefits the ~17000 pilots on the list. Do the right thing and retire at 65. There are other flying opportunities everywhere. We all know this has nothinhg to do with 4th pilars or $. I will be able to retire at 58 and I've been here not nearly as long as you and will likely never see your seat and definately not for as long as you've been in it. You ignore the fact that a thousand additional pilots are not needed and countless mid career positions will be delayed. Who "CARES" about this pilot group? Not you.

Oh christ now we’re saying that age 67 is just altruism on behalf of those who were hired at a later than average age?

I'd like to wait for the AE results before offering my altruistic support for age 67. I may need another couple AEs before I see the importance of letting experienced pilots fly. Until then, get out of my seat...

One third of us were hired with the expectation of retiring at 60. We stagnated for 5 years when Congress set the parking brake on retirements. Anyone (not everyone) who stagnated at 90% has a small window of opportunity for locking themselves into the highest pay rate possible before the music stops again. How much FOMO is reflected in the WBA bids?

Hopefully a lot of FOMO. These guys senior to me need to take it now. I need 10% more seat seniority to get the QOL I deserve.

I like the optimism. Missing out on WBA means moving up a few lines on the wide report. Either one is a nice improvement.

Classic win-win framing. I'm at a point where I'm starting to actually enjoy my NBB schedule, so it might be tough to bid for WBB...!

Speaking of blastphemy, I don't mean to be sacrilegious to our new FLT OPS god (RG) but he was in fine form with the last memo. Surrounding himself in the vesments and infallibility of his position he proclaimed near schedule perfection by improving rotations and reducing fatigue calls through crew resources hard work.

He doesn't remeber that he was the one to implement the optimizer and destroy rotations in the first place. I think he needs a reminder and the thousands of pilots hired since his schenanigans began should get the full history as well. This guy, really, his hubris knows no bounds.

not only that, but the main driver in bettering rotations appears to be the rules and penalties negotiated by ALPA as part of C2019.
