Replacing a $15/hour cashier is aiming low, imagine the financial gains for a company that can replace $300/hour labor. What professions are you recommending to your children?
Robot mechanic? Someone has to maintain and repair these machines.

Reaction Simulation is building this right now and shopping it to Delta. It will basically eliminate the 200 series…and yes…is very dope.

I don't know, I'm super skeptical. I was hugely not a fan of the flat-panel TV screeen CFT trainer for the 200's in the 320 course (wehreas the 88 and ER had a trainer with all the actual knobs and switches). I excoriated that on the surveys as a too-cheap option which diminished training, and causing negative learninig. I heard feedback that the company was looking at going back to a physical setup, but maybe that was just talk.

That said, this is a tool, which may have (limited) uses. But it should never "eliminate the 200" series. Ever. The AF has gone to a 'hybrid' model, with very mixed success. And sadly, the shortcomings may not manifest fully for some time. Frankly, I think they have alrady reduced the IQT program to the bare minimum as it is. At the end of the day, time is money, and business is business. SMH.

I 100% agree...except I think it will happen sooner, To the current newest pilots being hired here even. The profound powere of AI is unimaginable for most..even the creators of AI. My pontification is single pilot ops to watch over the fully autonomous operation unfold.

pilots are great at finding a sandhole to insert our head into. Don't be surprised when we collectively pull it out and the sun isnt in the same place we left it.

A good time for a reminder from Debbie Downer…

We are living in a golden era now. United NEWHIRE Captain assignments anyone?

This will not last forever and when the record player screeches to a halt, or worse, starts playing backwards (Satan is that you?) lots of people will be caught off guard. Much less unpleasant during a black swan if you have been planning for the eventuality.

Make hay while you can. Enjoy the ride. Save some $.

And no, I’m no fun at parties 😬

the good news about AI is that the wars and general dissolution of societies will be more impactful to our lives than the job losses.

Then AI decides that the greatest threat to the planet is us and we all die.

James Cameron is a prophet.

It could totally hapen, and on the path we're on, it will. There's no question that a hyper inteligent being with no emotions would decide that humankind is the greatest threat the planet has ever seen. All it has to do is run a mathematical analysis of how much we have polluted, destroyed nature, and created a mass extinction in the short (by geological standards) million years or so we have existed. Not to mention war and famine and dispair.

It's not if, it's when it decides we are the enemy that needs to be eliminated.

Saving money won’t matter when currency crashes.
