Of course, this was the same bunch that did the MOAD before the VEOP.
Ah ... good times.

What a swing and a miss that EB prediction was! I can't remember who, but one of the Bobs pontificated that, post-Rona, Delta would become a "boutique" air line. That was 180 out from every major airline at the time.

I've been internally debating for a little while and I'd thought I'd get the thoughts of the collective:
I'm a recent new hire slated to go to the 220 in NYC. I'm going to be a commuter out of OMA for about 6 years, until my youngest graduates high school. My conundrum is stay with NYC or switch to SLC.
As far as a nonstop commute goes, there's 3 RJs/day (+2 AA RJs) to LGA and only 2 RJs/day to SLC. Add in the fact that I'll have to cover three airports in NYC, the commute could get messy quick. On the plus side for SLC is covering only one airport and it's an hour behind me.
The final consideration is seniority, which will rise quicker in NYC, maybe even to the point of being able to hold a line after OE.
So, am I missing something? Any other factors I should consider? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

While it may seem easier to go to SLC, I think I'd stick with NYC. It should be relatively quick to avoid EWR, if you have to go there at all. And your seniority will be much better. Then in a year slip on into MSP, DTW, or even ATL on the 320/73N/7ER.

Get a good crash pad in NYC and take a lot of stress out of the commute.

Either I'm spending money on transportation across the city, or I'm spending money on a crashpad near LGA. Definitely not an ideal situation...
Edit: I think I'm going to be two-legging it a fair bit either way. That's why I'm slightly leaning to going back a time zone instead of forward.

On those notes, one detail I forgot to mention is I have family friends on the Jersey side of the river that have offered to let me crash. If it's easy to avoid EWR, is it relatively easy to get EWR?

If you are doing two legs, I would bid early start/finish in NY. Go the day before, rest and coming back home it will be better, since you’ll be gaining an hr.
I used to commute from the east coast to OrD. It sucked big time losing an hr going home.

IMO, going back a time zone is good for going to work. Going home it will be a bit more challenging.

I’d recommend not making this decision until you see it play out a while. You never know how you’ll feel about it until you start doing it. It does take a couple months to find your spots (hotels, restaurants, etc.) and figure out the routine of it. Once that’s done it is much easier to find the groove and take many of the stressors out of it. Also, the Nyc crews and flying were pretty fun IMO. Lots of destinations. EWR trips back when I was doing it had a lot more 4-leg days through ATL. LGA had a lot more variety and less legs…and ability to avoid ATL.
Play it out a while, ask around once you’re there.
Edit: I bid out to MSP after that, but sorely missed the seniority. If I would’ve stuck to nyc another year or 2 I think that would’ve been better.
