Honestly, I think he actually wants "junior" to be harmed, just so we can have an "epiphany" for his past hurts. It's pretty sad, when you think about that.

I get the exact same feeling

What are they replacing?

If you say the -ER, l take exception to that. Dalpa doesn't consider the 7ER a widebody. We are getting 7 A350s next year, and a bunch of 330s.

Do you see any difference in planning ahead as a 2 year NH captain of today and a pilot that went thru bankruptcy where it took an almost 100% increase in pay and 18 years(half a normal career) to get back to their pre bankruptcy scale and QOL?

Yea, I know...."But I was furloughed....but I was at the RJ's... but, but, but". I get it, BUT...it's all relative and just depends on perspective. Sometimes folks aren't able to plan ahead. I submit, as of now, most every Delta pilot hired in the past 8 years has had ample opportunity and means to do their requisite planning.

I ask myself, even though his delivery sucks, is their anything wrong with the message of, "Plan ahead"?

there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the message of “plan ahead.”

there’s definitely something wrong with the implicit eagerness Nick has to see others go through hard times so that they’ll eventually agree with them

there were plenty of pilots on FB and a few on here that were pretty vocally hoping for furloughs in 2020.

It’s not a widebody.

The point of planning ahead is you execute before the event. Your bankruptcy analogy deals with reaction after the event.

Let's look at a 1998 new hire. Were they planning for bankruptcy? How much of the C2K windfall went into the contingency fund? Planning before the event is what matters. How did the pilots who lived on 1999 wages do compared to those who immediately adjusted lifestyle upward to C2K? Out of genuine curiosity, how did post BK wages compare with pre 2K wages?

Recovery after the event is a different topic. 2yr captains living a 300k lifestyle will not recover as well as the 2yr CA still living the FO lifestyle. The smart ones are planning ahead so the recovery is smoother.
