If FAs get PS, do you think pilots will immediately get it too before the ink dries? /s

Why did they get rid of the JKT and the 2 day interview? The college degree? Probably for the same reason they're letting pilots wear double breasted coats, handing out BLM pins, pronoun badges, and FAs with beards and purple Mohawks.
I personally know one. Five years ago he had logged zero hours in an airplane. 320B here now. You and I both know they wouldn't have looked at him a few years ago.

Why do you mean? I've had more than zero FAs tell me they could be pilots if they just went to 2 more weeks of training.

I think the mentallity that Delta allows pilots to live outside the domicile and commute is misleading. Delta no doubt prefers you you live in base. But they rely on people living out base, and they know it, even if they don't want to acknowledge it.

Imagine the reverse, if they mandated that pilots must all live within SC driving distance of their base. We would have a significant amount of pilots early retiring, switching airlines, finding work other places etc. Good luck hiring and retaining 2000 pilots a year. You get your first drop, and must move to some random base for who knows how long? Sure. We all know we couldn't sustain a NYC domicile anywhere close to the ~2,500 pilots you see today if you had to live in NYC. So what would they have to do to staff? Maybe give NYC/LAX/SEA based pilots a cost of living over-ride? Either that or open more domicles like UA is doing. But alas, they won't do all of those things, because pilots can live where they want and commute. Commuters subsidize the airlines ability to actually staff in these expensive metros with low pilot residency and without pay overrides. So it'd be nice if they stopped acting so benevolent and tolerant. They don't have a choice.

Yes, the problem with FA's isn't a training churn. As others have mentioned they have a retention problem. I'd be curious to know what percentage of each new hire FA class makes it 3/6/12 months without quitting.

I’m betting if they took the technique out of the document, shortened it to more useful information and gave everyone a few more days off after spending 6 weeks on Virgina Ave then more people would read it. A LCA told me the OE guide couldn’t even get the simple technique of taking off correct so just ignore it. So why would I read the guide if I show up and the LCA tells me the guide is wrong? What is the point?

That whole guide is technique and not policy. The fact they expect you to read what is effectively gouge blows my mind. How about “read the FCTM and vol 1. If you have time, there’s some good techniques in the OE guide that we will talk about…on OE.”

Because here at Delta, we are expected to prove we really want it by teaching ourselves how to fly the jet then show up in training and perform it. Training isn't really training here, it's evaluating and critiquing.

Could the attitude problem be because they walk into a jaded work group on day one? Sim partners b!tching, LCAs b!tching, captains b!tching. Not super motivating.

edit: just thought of this. It’s like when an older generation complains about a younger one. The irony is that the younger generation inherited that very behavior from the older generation. It’s kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I’m a part of the generation the older guys complain about (barely a millennial).
