Same thing that happened with the hotels and uniforms. UAL added MCO and LAS pilot bases because there live a lot of them and no one was upgrading.
I highly doubt management cares where pilots live.
And I bet it effects some, but I doubt not having bases inFL/TX will hugely effect the hiring pool. I may be wrong, but not likely (in this case, I’m wrong a lot).

With the new contract parking (2023 to be paid in Jan 2024), FA bases become completely irrelevant to pilots. There will be no impact to pilot DH legs.

I’m an old school guy who thinks Delta should not lift a finger to help commuters……but I agree with you.

I'm old school too, Delta needs to stop allowing other airlines in the jumpseat....

It’s not about helping commuters, it will come down to getting new hires.

Im sure delta suddenly started getting these bases to FAs after the last Skyhub FA asking for positive space for commuters. Lol

Im not sure where this keeps coming from, because Delta is not hurting for applicants. The times are dropping here like everywhere else, but we are still able to be as selective as we want, and eventually this hiring boom will end. Most likely within a year or less. There's absolutely zero motivation for management to do a stunt like this just to get new hires. Your first mistake is assuming management cares about pilots at all. They still have the attitude that applicants should bend over backwards for us and not the other way around. I don't see that changing in the recruitment office any time soon. They want applicants who will just be happy to be here and do whatever they're told to do and vote yes for whatever they're told to vote yes for. They're pretty clear that if you don't like our bases and you aren't sure you want to work here, then you probably aren't a good fit and should go somewhere else. That hasn't changed.

This thing with the FAs is to attract and retain them. The turnover amongst the junior on that side is getting crazy and even hiding at full speed, they can't get the staffing where they want it to be, hey they are still crazy selective there too.

Apparently lates rumor is that…online assessment might be going away.

Why did we got rid of the JKT, the 4 yr degree? I’m sure the psych tests will be gone eventually. Everybody is hurting on applicants, they are hiring people that 5 yrs ago wouldn’t even got an interview.

New hires only come from TX and FL.

None come from MN, GA, MI, UT, WA where we have bases and American and United don’t.

Rumors rumors.

Do you have some numbers to back that assertion up about hiring people who wouldn't get in 5 years ago? Or is that just like your opinion man?

Why did they get rid of the JKT and the 2 day interview? The college degree? Probably for the same reason they're letting pilots wear double breasted coats, handing out BLM pins, pronoun badges, and FAs with beards and purple Mohawks.
