This isn't about getting "better QOL." This is about rolling the dice on a schedule I could hold thereby giving us stability vs hoping, yes hoping, the perfect circumstance presents itself on a less desirable schedule so that I can pick up a GS that drops the right amount of days to take care of childcare conflicts. . Some of us don't get the luxury of playing that game so saying everyone can (and should) do it is tone deaf to many of our realities.

You are the one getting into hypotheticals by assuming unlimited green slips and rolling thunder along with indefinite 10% PS and unlimited life flexibility. In your make believe world anyone off year one pay should be making at least $400k.

I was awarded an A position in the September AE, training in November with a conversion in January. In the sample October AE it showed me awarded a different base. Assuming that holds when the final results come out, how likely is it that my conversion date will still be January? What drives the conversion date decisions?

There is a good chance with one month between the two awards, you won’t have to actually fly in the “old” base - again depending on what time of the month your 44X is.

Depends on the “from” and “to” bases. But typically, base changes happen earlier rather than later in the window. The prime exception if you are leaving a shorter-staffed base, like NYC.

In my case, FROM is NYC, TO is DTW, and my 44X is scheduled for 12/18.

Put in an OE request for DTW with the OE planner. I think it’s past the iCrew template cutoff for Dec (but not Jan…). You might actually get Christmas off if you ask nicely Stopping by in person also helps. Bearing gifts.

Last day for requests is the 19th. Just put in for DTW OE for Dec and Jan. Thanks for the reminder!

FWIW, when I upgraded, I walked to the 4th floor and into the training planner and asked nicely if there was a way I could have Christmas morning off (I added I hade out of town son and his wife coming for Christmas). But if not, I understood. She was very kind and hooked me up with the whole day. Worth a shot!
Good luck with the quick conversion. At worst, maybe one month in NYC? 🤞🏼

The poster being referenced is an NYC320A. NYC 320 and 73NA are making at least $314/hr in a category that is rains Green year round for the foreseeable future. Rolling Thunder is readily available. Add in profit sharing and it's EASILY 400k. Maybe even 500k but that would be embellishment.
