It will absolutely change bidding behavior, just like the last couple holidays with holiday pay.

Not sure about Christmas, but I have no doubt that you will have to be very senior to work New Years Eve and New Years Day. 5:15 for each day will not be passed up by many.

Coverage still went pretty much right up to the limit in my category for Nov, it will be interesting to see how Dec/Jan goes. Very few actually bid for Thanksgiving in my category, hope it helped other categories more.

Of course we'll have to wait and see, but anecdotally the pilots I've talked with cared more about the EOY holidays than the previous two we went through. Further, many senior pilots' strategy was to bid off to be able to GS on those days, and Holiday Pay would not really change that strategy.

Yes that is not at all surprising about Thanksgiving. In this case holiday pay just helps assuage the suffering of the junior folks a little bit. Christmas will be the same, although there may be guys willing to bid to finish on the 24th to snag an extra 5:15 there.

Since we're talking these last two holidays of the year, how could LCP availability over Christmas and New Year's affect someone who might need IOE in December?

agree. Nov A wides just came out so it’s a good day to check and see what seniority got thanksgiving off in your favorite category. Rough future extrapolation could be 3% for next year. BWYW etc etc

To add to that, even some of the senior LCAs bid trips over the holidays. My first trip on OE was with a senior LCA who bid a Christmas trip. His kids are out of the house/spread across the country, so they did their Christmas early. He bid trip with a 24 hours layover on Christmas day so he and his wife could have a nice getaway. Lucky for me, the OE scheduler snuffed this trip out and dropped me into it lol.

It sure affected 320 A in a positive way for Thanksgiving next month…. My guess is Christmas Eve, Christmas, and NYE will be very junior until I stacked, line or reserve this year. Good for everyone….
