FWIW since the company started using the new manpower planning software, every bypass has been under 23.E.13.b, which is based solely on age and has nothing to do with seniority. They have not awarded a bypass under 13.a., which is the seniority based bypass request that they used to award.
13. Bypass. A Captain or First Officer who is awarded an AE or VD may be bypassed, and pay protected at the higher composite hourly rate for the hours paid to him in his current category, as of the date he would otherwise have been converted, if the commencement of his qualification training (pursuant to the AE or VD) would be within: a. five years of the date he reaches the regulatory age limit for pilots, and the pilot and the Company mutually agree to the bypass, or b. two years of the date he reaches the regulatory age limit for pilots and the Company exercises its discretion to bypass.

If you have less than 2 years to go the company can bypass you regardless of your wishes.

My VEOP neighbor retired from the 300 series sims when displaced from the 777 to the 350. The sim instructors and his partner knew from day one they would not finish.

350’s will be coming in at a pretty good pace for tge next 4 years. There will be near continuous bids for the aircraft. There will also be people bidding off the 350 to the 330. I think he will hold it if he wants. It’s also however possible the company will bypass him. He gets the pay but not the plane.

330 deliveries in next 2-3 years outpaces the 350 as well. Just food for thought. There is a lot of widebody movement and the gravy train is not slowing down on either. Those fleets are still understaffed and not recovered from Covid. Which bodes well for the people on them making hand over fist type of money.
I can see NBA going to a 6 month hire on the next AE because of the new TA plus the wide bodies on orders.
