Ha, me too. Plus the September AE was the only one this year without a separate Projected Training list (I know it’s included in the AE award itself). Hey, we are doing monthly AES now. I can’t complain!

Get ready to learn to SLEEP buddy!! Your first London or Paris you’ll wake up at 3am. Wide awake. Wondering wtf is wrong with me.

also pro tip- FIRST BREAK COMING BACK IS KING!!!! You’ll probably be junior guy on 330 though so…

usually if I’m junior I give the first offer to the senior FO. I’m excited to hear how you like it!

I’m excited! Are breaks given based on the pilot landing or is it all seniority based?

pilot landing usually is it. Pilot flying will get 2nd or 3rd break (usually they take 2nd). Then relief usually goes on first break. If you go out with same crew as coming back, whoever was in FO seat going out will relief coming back (we don’t have relief lines here). So if you’re in FO seat going out, you will relief going back…giving you first break on return.

The seniority thing is just something I use with the other FO’s. Approach it as a hey your senior so I was gonna give you the option. Or if I’m senior say hey I was gonna be PF/PM going out and then relief coming back if you’re good with that? Not just dictating what I’m going to do. My fleet doesn’t run into landing issues, that will be something new for you.

B lines you may have a trip where each leg is a new set of 2 different pilots and you’re the 3rd guy. Sometimes people think this is a relief pilot trip, but it’s not technically. When I’ve flown those I just try to be best help for the guys/gals I can be but usually on those I can end up being a relief every single leg. Hope that gives you some insight. You’ll learn your stuff quickly and see what quirks or techniques work for you.

On 330, the person doing the landing usually takes second break although I’ve seen a couple request 3rd. Semper Gumby. First rest on the return does indeed rock.
