The whole point of this conversation is how you can use your seniority in your current seat with vacation bidding to better you future schedule when you are junior. I’m not sure what point you are trying to make. There are lots of new people around and someone made a comment about taking multiple holiday vacations.

Pretty much my experience. I bid to 330 back in 2017 and was in the bottom 10 guys for for a couple years. Saw what I liked and what I didn’t like. Got sick of no control of everything. Especially irritated flying 60-70 hours on reserve and the top half reserve guys not flying a trip. Never moved up and actually went backwards as people bid in. Also got sick of going to LOS every week and deep SA. Some guys liked it but it wasn’t what I wanted to do. Swapped to 7ER and got way more Europe flying and actually made more money using my seniority despite the hourly pay difference. Figured I could bid back once I had some seniority cushion. Now top 10 percent on 7ER and life is pretty good.
And the pay disparity has increased since 2017 as well.
The only thing you said that's still true is that life at top 10 percent is pretty good.

That's interesting. I didn't realize there was one iota of mockery for 350 lanyards. I wore when because my APD gave me one. It was the most challenging IQ I ever dealt with, so I don't mind considering it an insignia of accomplishment., and a placeholder for the next PWA unrest lanyard. Do you really think a pilot wearing said lanyard is gloating or somehow considers themselves superior to others? Perhaps an individual exuded that attitude at some point and it left a lasting impression, but I find your eye roll comment to be odd. It's just another jet and I don't see how it could be construed as weird for a pilot to wear the associated lanyard once they've gone through the program. Your comment seems to come from a similar camp to the general Airbus dislike crowd ... I have met exactly one pilot who flew a FBW Bus and disliked it, mainly because the throttles don't move (not throttles dude, thrust levers) and the side-sticks are not tied together. Okay, fine - at least he had insight to his opinion, although a lone-wolf attitude about it. The 350 might not be for you if a lanyard triggers a bodily response, especially if you're senior to me

Very true. Just giving perspective to the question of how life is as a Junior WB spot. Still probably more money in current seat though with GS and LCA bidding. Also not really interested in going back yet. My NBA percentage trigger is getting pretty close so I’ll probably do that before thinking about a WBB slot again.

Might have been. I didn’t have much schedule flexibility which definitely hurt me. I could move x days around early in the month but then they got locked in. 330 reserve folks are all experts at rolling x days and dodging trips. I could do it some but just didn’t have enough flexibility or seniority to help me much.

Thanks! Just to remind some folks who may not know that the mock awards have been assuming the company awards every posted and backfill position. I’ve noticed it to be around 80% accurate. Always bid what you want. The mock can be very good but once the company starts adjusting awards due to training needs, the final results will be different. Best of luck to everyone this week!
