As a point of reference, in 2017 LAX777B was down to 11,XXX with around 14,500 on the list. Or about 3 years in property. Crazy how different things are now.

My favorite BS quote from a Crew Resources Monthly Newsletter:

 There will be more opportunity for Delta pilots over the next few years than there has been in a generation. The foundation of the AE process is best summed up in the phrase “Bid what you want, want what you bid.”
Short, Powerful, Eloquent, and Legendary. What followed that 2016 quote has been eye watering movement and progression. It has continued to this day and shows no signs of stopping for the foreseeable future as Delta renews focus on International WB expansion while continuing to upgauge DCI flying(RIP 50 seat RJ) to mainline as regional staffing collapses.

Just don’t use qualifiers in ATL. If you do, you’ll never get anything.

Adding another reference point around 2012 you could not hold either top paying FO position (777 or 747) with less than 12 years. Every FO in either of these positions was maxed out on the 12 year scale. Of course we only had a very small number of these aircraft and we are much better positioned now with the recent pay banding.

I had 14 years in 2012 and couldn't hold either one of those. I was able to be the plug as SEA330B. After about 9 months I made it to 1 guy below me in category.

what are you referencing for this? I checked end of year 2017 category and seniority lists and the plug lax 777 B was a 10,1xx pilot who was hired in 2010. There might have been an AE and the pilot was awarded it, but I don’t see that conversion until Q2 of 2018.

April 2018 category list shows a 10,8xx number as the plug that was hired in 9/2014.

For reference, LAX 777 B was also 92 pilots on the April 2018 category list.

Oct 2023 category list shows 90 pilots lax 350 B and the plug being an 8,0xx number that was hired Feb 2016.

went from roughly 76% seniority to hold to 49% seniority to hold.

To further the wild changing times. As a 14 hire, I held 330B at 2 years on property and I couldn't believe my luck. When hired, I assumed 10 years min to WB B and 15 years to NB A. Happy to see all the good fortune happening, I hope it continues for a long while.

Better lucky than good, timing is everything and there is no justice.

Yep, you’re correct. It was a late 2017 AE and the guy was a 11,XXX at that time. Going from memory.

Yes we know. Hockeypilot is very unlucky and can’t even hold NBA because hockeypilot doesn’t want to sacrifice seniority so hockeypilot likes to complain on here how unfortunate and sad it is to be stuck without any choices available to hockeypilot despite the unfairness of all these dang new pilots who are willing to take junior positions and therefore can hold NBA way before poor hockeypilot who still can’t hold hockeypilot’s desired A seat because it takes too long to hold it at an acceptable (to hockeypilot) seniority.

We got it. Woe is you.
