Prolly also matters(direct correlation) if GS are flowing in the category or not as to how enticed peeps are to fly on a holiday.
yeah I’d love to be wrong here, and I think you do have a good point. I just figured Xmas and thanksgiving were more significant so trends on the other holidays might not apply to those two. I do think it will drive holidays less junior, but I doubt they will go senior like the other ones did.

This has always been my observation, many times the most senior (kids out of the house, family spread all out) are the most willing to work the holidays, they were just unlikely to bid it because they'd hold out for the GS.

I used to always argue to the WB senior guys, who'd be on a GS while I was on assigned flying, but couldn't get their spouse with them because they found out too late, "wouldn't you rather have a small holiday bonus and know 3weeks out that you had a holiday trip and plan to bring your spouse? This way breeds way more stability and planning than the old way, and I'm actually at the point where I can hold holidays off and bid for the GS's if it came to that.

yea, July 4th was a Tuesday. Bid to work it and didn’t get my first couple choices. Was with the family 7+ days straight beforehand at the lake. No biggie. Missing thanksgiving with the family or Xmas morning with my kids (all under 5yo) nope…

For many, it's fly "for free" on reserve or fly a GS for extra cash. Might as well make the extra cash.

While NB GSs might still be in the party mode, you still have to fly them to get them. And it has yet to be seen how SSs and airport standby will affect them.
While the "smarter not harder" approach became more difficult with two-day prior trip coverage, there are still plenty of opportunities. I forget where you are based, but some of the A350 FOs you fly with have gotten very smart on trip coverage nuances and legalities. Many of the two-day prior trip awards you see in iCrew are attempts at getting trips acknowledged when pilots aren't contactable. Knowledge of FRMS goes a long way in working smarter. I forget where you are based, but the LAX FOs are the smartest on FRMS trip coverage because that is all they have (SYD). ATL has a good mix of FRMS, so they would be good to ask as well. DTW doesn't have as much FRMS, so they probably know the least. The GS opportunities have been reduced, but knowledge of trip coverage and FRMS helps preserve what is left.

Chill holmes! This isn’t chit chat. Treat others with a little more respect even if you disagree with their opinions.

Maybe! The June AE was on the 6th day and the July AE was on the 7th day. Today is technically the 5th day! They call it a “mid-window award” so I’m assuming day 5 is really the expectation.
