Can we get back to AE talk? Pretty sure a mock is coming out in the coming days (by latest trend Monday-Wednesday range, but unknown of actual time/date snapshot)… my guess is this mock will be very “off”. Many looking to “what can I get” vs “what I’ll do”. TBH, I’m the same camp. Wanting WBB, low 9k in ATL, bid remains the same, but holiday training/young kids….yea, QOL handcuffs do exist when making plans in holiday months… Hearing the same from folks in the same pool… “maybe wait on this and the next and bid for a Jan training bid”. Opens up plenty of spots for those junior who will roll the dice. But for the mock? Yea, what I want remains. Could yield some interesting end results with WBA movement, especially in ATL with 320A slots to fill behind. There is zero doubt that folks have figured out we run a “mock” now and will “play” only to walk back their bids based on actual QOL demands. Holidays make it even more skewed. As of bid close, BWYWWWYB.

They are projecting a September and October bid correct?

These ' senior guys won't bid because of the holidays' posts are interesting. Y'all can take this for what is worth, but being in a senior airplane, I fly with a lot of senior FOs. After the contract came out, I have heard several of them saying they are going to bid left seat now because the party's over wrt GSs. I really don't think they are all that worried about when the training occurs, and it is mostly wishful thinking that it does matter, but time will tell. I know two that went B-A already and a few more that are going to do it soon. tifwiw, ymmv.

As someone who has been arguing for holiday pay for over 20yrs, even I have been astounded as to how effective the addition of offering 5hrs add pay to Memorial and Independence Day has been at filling the schedule over those days, and early. We'll see if it holds going forward, but so far in my category at least, there are plenty of pilots willing to work on holidays if they perceive it's a good deal.

The party is definitely not over with regard to greenslips!

IMO Memorial Day and the 4th are a different animal than thanksgiving and Christmas. We will see how it plays out but I’m guessing those two days (turkey day and Xmas) pilots will still want off. However I would not be surprised to see flights that end on a redeye on those holidays go somewhat senior.

Lots of eeyore's think the world is ending with any contract change. I think they mean GS will MAY return to a more normal levels. It might just return to pre-rona days when same 10% of the senior guys were getting all the GS's and GS#2 was a unicorn. It will be fun to watch FB/forums when the first silver slip gets awarded though.

It seems to have worked fairly well in my category as well. Though I'm sure there are some that are super angry about potentially missing out on their holiday GS, hopefully that trend continues. I'm sure the junior folks love being able to bid off holiday weekends and the senior bidders get some extra scratch. Plus us middle ground guys get to bid the better trips that those senior guys otherwise would have bid.

You'd think that, but when I was a 330B, I remember not being able to get a Christmas GS (family did our Christmas on the 21st), because all the standard, super senior bidders took them all lol. I also had my first OE trip with the company over Christmas because some super senior LCA bid for a Christmas trip.

You ever heard the joke about the old bull and the young bull standing in a hill overlooking the herd of cows? The new contact hobbled the old bulls. Working 'smarter' not'harder' became much more difficult on WB airplanes under this contract. (And as we all know, it isn't all implemented yet management still has two silver bullets to use).

While NB GSs might still be in the party mode, you still have to fly them to get them. And it has yet to be seen how SSs and airport standby will affect them.

Would you mind doing an after action on Thanksgiving on your view of how it went down? My thoughts are .... since Thanksgiving is a nebulous date(roving to find 4th Thursday of November) and kids/govt and others get a 4 day weekend, folks will pick up flying on Thanksgiving for approx $1500+ more and just celebrate it on FRI/Sat or Sunday.

Prolly also matters(direct correlation) if GS are flowing in the category or not as to how enticed peeps are to fly on a holiday.
