With Monthly AE’s driving nearly all training into a single month, you almost have to assume they won’t be able to accommodate you, unless there are a large number of positions, and “train after Junior” might have an effect? 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, I knew the answer when I wrote it. I love my current plane and qol on the 717 but the pay difference is getting hard to overlook. My wife says no, but $30/hour says yes.

Yes but odds are with the monthly system they won’t actually honor it, unfortunately. It’s not a golden day to them so they can force you to go to training still. Once the new rules kick in then it’ll be a must honor.

There will be other opportunities. Just saying.

I know someone already commented, but I here it is straight from the last AE memo:

4. Delta can liquidate vacation periods that conflict with training resulting from an AE or VD award. While pilots may request to retain vacation, we are focused on utilizing all available training slots. We will evaluate and work to accommodate vacation retention requests, but pilots should be aware that requests may not be granted, and vacation could be liquidated to meet our training schedule. Please see PWA Section 7 C. 7. for additional information.
Soooo, I'd say, don't count on keeping your vaca!

similar issue with other life events thrown in. I emailed the training planners, let them know what was going on, and that I didn’t care about conversion dates, pay protection, etc but absolutely had to have certain days off.

they worked around my needs and everything worked out swimmingly.

Wife says no, vacation plans say no, money says yes?

Yah, that sounds stupid. Especially when you can most likely just wait a month.

Yeah, sounds stupid. I’m being stupid. FOMO. I don’t even want to swap. Slept on it, bad thoughts are gone.

Whew! Thought an intervention was going to be required. Every time I even get an inkling of jumping to 320A, I just look at an indoc classmates schedule and the actual trips he flies and then I'm good for a while lol. The thought of going from top third to bottom third seniority isn't appealing either. The extra cash would be nice, but not nice enough for the loss of schedule control that would result.

Exactly this is what I keep telling myself. I make plenty of money and my stress is low on the 717. I need to stop looking at the pay charts. The grass isn’t always greener, I’ve been in that yard and it’s green because of a lot of labor.
