Another factor coming up that I haven't seen in this discussion is the implementation of golden days for training starting in January. Does anyone know how that transition is supposed to go? Is it effective for anyone with training days after January 1 or does it start with the first AE bid awarded after January 1?

I wonder how many will skip the AEs that train in Nov/Dec to get the holidays off and delay training until we have the golden day provision active.

Raises hand. *Except for WBA longshots that occupy bid positions 1-7

I'm also curious how many are sitting out pending age 67 legislation. If the music stops, what seat do you want?

Is age 67 really going to be a music stopping event? 1/3 of the pilots at age 65 aren’t even active. I imagine that number will only go one way if age 67 went, and that’s up.

airline is still growing fleets and widebodies.

also, if ICAO doesn’t jump on it then it really won’t stop the movement since WBA seats would still be opening

Lots of uncertainty, especially it even gets off the ground in Capitol Hill. It barely made it through committees…

Well the bill passed the house this morning and will go to the Senate and then reconciliation. It's looking more and more like it'll pass... unfortunately.

I would bet if the age goes up it will have very little effect on the number who are not active. It will still be roughly 30%. I also bet if we raise the age, ICAO follows very shortly after. If they don’t beat us to it.

Maybe..a lot of people (with kids) don't like to train during the summer though also. But Delta also doesn't like to train as much during the summer either due to that being our busiest flying period. It'll be interesting to see if there's a pattern.

At NWA, people typically pulled their cards for summer and holidays. Since they worked 3.5 months out, the February/March and August/September months went more junior.

Assuming we’re still doing this in 6 months, you’ll have shook the tree pretty well, and the bids will become much more predictable.

there wasn’t even a floor discussion on the topics. I wouldn’t be so quick to jump on the gun the government is going to pass the reauthorization bill so quick.

Certainly ICAO would probably follow suit, haven’t seen anything about them even moving in any capacity yet to raise it though. Let alone beat us.

as far as the number staying the same and having little effect, not sure I agree with that. Not everyone is going to go to 67. System will still be worked.

still The overall point I wanted to make was the whole music will stop with growth a 2 year kick down the road unsure of how the results shake up might be too quick of a judgement. Can’t really extrapolate the same as 60 to 65 either. Too hard to really tell how this whole thing plays out. Think some are getting a little ahead of themselves with doomsday predictions

So what you are saying is we have to pass the bill to know what’s in it? TIC. We have no say or control in this. It’s a **** sandwich that if served we have to eat.
