With the new planes next year the time to hold a WB will get less and less I think. It will however take a new hire today 8-10 years and that’s including the new planes. Did you see how many ATL CAs took the 350B? Almost every opening on the ATL350B was taken by current CAs. That’s crazy

I thought WB FO's didn't get bought off, that the senior FO just gets another break because the LCA has to stay in the flight deck with the OE pilot.

-if it’s OE and the student has ever been qualified on the 7ER or the -400 at DL in either seat the senior FO gets bought .
-If it’s a theater qual for a CA the senior FO is usually bough off.
but if the student is new to the fleet it goes out as a 4 pilot flight with the breaks getting split in half instead of 3rds
if it’s a 4 pilot flight the senior FO is bought off regardless (330/350 only, no 4 pilot stuff on 767s except training)

question: if I get awarded 220A nyc on this bid, can I bid again next month and get awarded 220A in SEA? And by the time I’m done with training just start out in sea instead of what I was originally awarded on this bid which is the 220 nyc

yes a category freeze does not restrict your ability to change bases on the same aircraft and seat.
maybe, it depends when your training is scheduled and when you convert from NYC220 to SEA220 and more importantly if you even get SEA220A on the next bid.
as always BWYWWWYB. I would not bid NYC220A unless I was ok getting stuck there for the duration of my seat lock and then some.

Say I got LAX7ERA this bid as my first upgrade with a projected training date of Nov 1st. can I bid in the Aug and/or Sep AE's and get awarded something else while I await training for a previous award? Trying to understand how this multiple AE award contract thing works.

trying to decide whether I should just move to NYC or do the commute from Seattle for the time being until I can convert. I’m only a couple hundred numbers away from holding it in sea. Being so close makes the decision very difficult as to make the move or not.. I was looking at Kent CT, Long Island or jersey up there, just have to figure out what would be the best way to approach and find a decent place to live at least for a year

if you take first upgrade on the 7ER in LA, you will have either a 1 or 2 year seat lock tacked on to the remainder of your NH category freeze depending on if you are currently a ER FO. (I’m assuming you were hired post Covid and still have a NH freeze based on your post history, if I’m wrong I apologize) but because of that freeze would be ineligible to bid for another aircraft/seat.
