Prepare yourselves… 2023 AEs

You suggest something that did not play out in reality for me. It took going from WB/B to E/RA bettered my W2. I went from 50% in category to 85% to do so. But small NB/A is a struggle to equal WB/B because WB/B is more $ per day any way you slice it. Everything is 6+ ADC, often much more. I make more currently as a senior 320A, but it's not a slam-dunk by any means. I work harder than I'm used to from the WB world, and plenty of pilots have fled my position with their tail between their legs back to the WB seat from which they came. Having choices is great, but make sure you are plugging the correct info into your decision making calculator.

NBA favors locals and close commutes with low time close coverage GS. You have to hustle to pick up lots of little trips. WBB can see some high time GS that work for a commuter. I've only done 3 GS this year, but they were 7 days, 9 days and 5 days. The resulting PB days are worth 12-17 hours for WBB vs 6-8 for NBA. WB reserve coverage means you can actually cash in PB days. NBA clearly comes out ahead on pure hourly comparison like vacation value, sick pay and training pay. There are lots of "good deal" niches throughout the system. It's more complex than just BES at X seniority. Location matters in the WBB vs NBA discussion.

This is a huge point. Everyone talks like it's either senior(ish) WBB or junior NBA. In my case it's either 60% WBB or 25% NBA. As you say, it's much more complex than some lead on.

Think they’ll do mock awards like last time?
