The next AE will allow senior pilots to more-or-less protect their summer vacations and reasonably expect to head to Virginia Ave after August 31st. Everyone I talk to say they refuse to AE when summer vacation is in the crosshairs, so I expect the next AE will go more senior across the board.

How is an AE that trains in September putting your vacation in the crosshairs? June and July were irrelevant last bid. This forum is desperate to make every next AE the “more senior one”

I bet we’ll see a good amount of NYC330Bs which usually means for those who really want a WB can get it. The last AE had ZERO openings and only two backfills so extremely rare.

SLC320A was a huge curveball last AE. Anything’s possible but I don’t seeing tomorrow’s AE going any more senior than the last one. If you were top 10,000 and wanted a new seat you would have bid it on the last one and probably gotten it.
If you take into account that ATL has a decent amount of junior pilots and only had 3 NB A slots last AE, I for sure see NB A continuing to go super junior

Because some people desperately want to say “the ride is over” for junior guys getting nice slots like WBB and NBA.

We’ll find out soon but I’m pretty sure the last AE’s training months were September/early October so that should have been good enough to avoid summer training. This next AE will most likely be October/November so now you could have folks not wanting to risk messing up the holiday season.

It’s not that, actually. At least not for me. I see a huge number of CJO holders, seekers, and others who are being given false expectations. The crazy awards of the last 18 months are simply unsustainable.

When those expectations are unmet, it will cause a lot of family strife and frustration. For me, I’m simply a realist trying to give a somewhat educated analysis of facts.

Trust me, I’d be glad to be wrong, as it would lift us all up higher. I’ve been wrong before.

True, but until domestic rotations get fixed, NBA will still go very junior. It’s not worth it to me to be NBA (<50%) like my buddies. I work the same amount of days and make more money with better QOL (imho), provided my extra days are GS. If they GS, sure, they make more but it’s more time gone and way more work than my schedule.

Agreed. All the probationary FOs I flew with in the last 6 months who were talking about “taking an upgrade” missed it by miles on the last AE.

The bonanza of unprecedented upgrades is drying up. Congrats to those, myself included, who struck gold in the last 18 months.

Yeah this will definitely put your holiday vacation at risk. I think we are reaching a little hard at this analysis to try and predict bid patterns that are almost unpredictable

Also SLC320A wasn’t a big curveball when you account it was already a 10-10.5 on previous bids with now having 35 openings or whatever it was.
