Captain’s Authority does not mean a Captain can violate the FOM because they are Captain. Unless you have a damn good reason obviously

CRM was the Magna Carta that thwarted the captains monarchic authority in the flight deck. I don't know how one would go about "restoring" captains authority without undermining other crew members and other parts of the operation.

As a pilot you can't complain about single points of failure undermining the operation in other areas while simultaneously wanting to become one. Plus, not to mention increased responsibility also means increased liability.
