years of TDYs taught me to always set your alarm before going out for drinks and to carry your room key in the sleeve with the room number printed on it.

thank you for listening to my ted talk.

That's actually a bit of a security risk because if you lose the sleeve whoever finds it knows exactly what room the key will go to. Granted, I think most hotels can give you a new key that when scanned at the door will invalidate but that only works if you beat them back to the hotel. And of course that is still an extremely rare event. But still, I just text myself the room number and leave the sleeve in the room.

Don’t lose your key then. No point having my key if I can’t remember the room number. I made that mistake once and it sucked. But as a bigger dude, I don’t worry as much as smaller women may legitimately worry, and I understand that.

Nah 7 years into this industry and I’ve never done this, thought of doing this, or plan on doing this. Some of y’all are wild about the plausible scenarios that will happen to you on your layovers.

But hey to each their own…

Room key in sleeve, CC with drivers license, cash to throw/spend separate pocket.

Fail safe for me, 35 + years at the job.

Not gonna lie, at first I read CC as conceal carry

No kidding. There are multiple age 67 threads. Mods why can’t we clean this one up and move the discussion?
