This^^^ Had to share a van with an age 67 apostle last week. His poor FO was on probation and looked like he was 19. When I asked him why 67 he actually used the words “reparations”…… Don’t worry he said no one will actually go to 67. When I asked if 69 was next he said no way because “science.”

They will NEVER be satisfied until they die in the seat cause age discrimination et al etc. They forget the only reason they have their chair is because of age discrimination.

I feel like a good nugget from BS was missed. Apparently he said on SkyNet that he is literally planning monthly AEs with a similar cadence of Mid month posting and end of month awards for training in two months.

Discuss.
hard for any of us to discuss or trust what they say because the wind changes directions many times a week. We will see how the next 2-4 months go how many AE’s are posted

Yep! In the memo he also said the month you can expect training too. It’s actually a really nice deal if they can keep this up. BS said they are evaluating June’s AE to see if this new way will work. Here’s what I’ve gathered so far…

1) AE posting mid month
2) Closes end of month
3) Results a couple days later
4) Fast forward 3 months and that’s the main month for classes (specifically for current Delta pilots)
5) BS mentioned a small portion of pilots may start earlier and some may start later, but only a couple weeks difference

Smaller AEs moving forward with WB positions becoming more available the closer we get to Summer 24’ because we have 16 Airbus WBs coming next year alone. Good stuff!

CAUTION - I do believe this new method will make it impossible to get out of training. The whole “my daughter is getting married that weekend” isn’t going to work now.

Yeah, will be easier to predict when you’re training though

Doesn’t matter if it was a week. There will be someone who tries to get out of it. We’re pilots. Can’t help it.

You can’t count summer as an international indicator. It’s always going to be busier in the summer with more international destinations. Guys in the 3000#s (I’m pretty sure even lower)weren’t touching international in the winter. That’s where you have to look. Sure the ER has the best flying but it only has the best flying year round if you’re like top 20% FO and like 15% CA. I’m 30ish percent in the right seat and couldn’t hold a pure international line in the right seat. People the forget the domestic ER trips are as bad as any other NB fleet

This bid will only generate enough new hire positions for July and August, so they will have to post another bid. The size of that bid will show if they are serious about “monthly” bids, or if it was just a line to placate people over a small summer bid.

It’s gotta be by the end of July right? The results will have to come out in time for the September classes

Eh, yes and no. Lots of 4-5 day trips with 1 leg transcon days for LAX/NYC crews just filtering through SFO. That is not really a bad domestic gig. Then tie in some Mexico/Latin America and there’s still a good mix of trips left that are pretty great.

but overall if you’re in ATL it can get really really bad on the domestic side, I agree.

Look at 11.F.2 An AE or VD only needs 15 days notice to begin qualification training. MD gets 25 days.
