I hope these rumors aren't true. It's been 6 months already, the longest stretch anyone can remember in a growth period.
If they delay it again or make it too small to be meaningful (which basically delays it to fall for all practical purposes), there's going to be a mutiny.
I don't think the company wants a massive loss of enthusiasm, in the middle of the busy summer schedule, when everyone is already pushed to the breaking point.

I agree with you. I can see WBB going to down to only about 11,000 in this next AE. Maybe NYC330B hits 12,000 but I doubt even that. NBA will go down to 15,000 at least. WBA will stay roughly the same until we get into the 2025 timeframe with another 10 airframes on the 330/350.
765 will be the first to hit 5,000 CAs and that’ll happen end of next year as the current 765 CAs jump ship to the 330 (kind of a stretch I know). We’re gonna be at 17,000 pilots by next summer and NBAs will continue to drop down to 16,000 ish while WBB maybe hits 13,000, only because the 330 and 350 will be growing.
I don’t see any current WBB jumping ship to NBA. It’ll be interesting to see what the next couple of years offer! We have to be careful about how the economic fears affect us too but so far it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

I predict 765 will end up the most senior airplane in the company, followed by 330 and 350. 350A DTW may be the first one to go to a 2014 hire if the big WB bid we've been hearing about for 2 years ever comes.
I see 330B staying very senior for FOs, even in NYC. They could probably be WBA lineholders before they can hold 330B or 765B going forward.

A small AE after a 6 month break is a slap in the face. Even a "week or two delay" pushes first conversions to August.
Tell your 4th floor buddies they probably shouldn't press to test with the pilot group right now.

While true, last bid, pretty much every (all?) NYC 765 A bid was from 7ER A. It’s an easy 3 day course with no check ride. Especially if you have only a few years left, it’s kind of a no brainer to spend 3 days on VA ave instead of a month just for better trip variety when the pay is the same.

Layover variety is something you worry about when you're new to the WB life. Im sure once I get to the top 30 years from now I'll prioritize trip efficiency for most time at home, and I won't mind doing the same 2-3 layovers I like, have a nice easy routine and just coast it out till my time comes. This seems to be the mentality of the few WBA's I've had the chance to chat with. I think the only WB seat that's gonna go junior with this pay band is gonna be 350B.

For the B side, it may be different. Lots of senior (to me) folks on the ER say they’re not making the switch to the 400 because they like the variety on the ER. I still see NYC 765B trending somewhat junior. I think they’ll get all the spots filled however so it won’t be going to new hires any time soon.

For your own sanity and personal health, I hope we continue hiring 1,000+ a year and things never slow down or stagnate. What are you the Delta pilot group Shaman… ready to breach the gates of OC1 and demand an AE?

I'm not saying the 330 doesn't have more layover variety....in my opinion I just don't see that being reason enough for a Capitan who has been life long Boeing to do time on VA avenue for same pay.
