Best I could do was look at old AE announcements on Deltnet...the one with latest bidding window was July 2021 AE which was open 11 to 21 July. The wording in the memo said "with the final conversions occurring in the February 2022 bid period" which would make the first month of conversions the August bid period which started only 10 days later.

With this one being open 16-26th, the July bid period would start only 6 days later....figure they will take a at least a day or so to crunch the results, 02 July could only be 2-3 days away to start conversions....I just don't see that happening, but again, I can't support that with any PWA reference.
That’s good info thanks! I’m assuming they will tell us next week when the conversion window is

They do not consider percentages, seat locks, or bypass requests.

The first time I was awarded captain, icrew showed about 100 people senior to me bidding it. I ended up being the most senior of the 11 people who were awarded that seat.

I think it’s pretty much worthless other than to maybe look for trends.

Yes, I posted a few days ago after talking to BS he said it would be either a 150 or 210 day bid with everyone being full converted by November.

Wow good to know! Follow up question, I don’t wanna do this but just curious how do you request a bypass? This is different than convert after jr right? I don’t wanna check the wrong thing in iCrew as I would like to NOT be bypassed

So just to recap what we think we know.

June 16th memo
Closes June 26th
Results sometime around the 28th
Conversion 150 or 210 days
Window beginning in July or August
Smaller AE with fewer WB positions
Displacing some of SEA7ER
A lot of NB A positions
Planning on a larger AE for Oct/Nov

Anyone wanna add anything else they may have heard?

Bypass is a different animal than Convert after Jr. You cannot request it. The company can elect to exercise their right to bypass you within 2 years of your retirement without your consent (you would be pay protected at the AE'd higher rate...and the company has some conditions it needs to meet) or within 5 years of retirement but only if you agree to it. All spelled out in 22.E.13.

Why would the company ever bypass someone? If they award a pilot on an AE, wouldn’t they need that pilot in the new spot?

Return on investment....if it costs $69K to put a pilot through the full A-350 school, then sit around for a month or two waiting to get OE, and consolidate, only to have him hit 65 and walk out the door 2 months later, the juice might not be worth the squeeze from a $ standpoint.

Might make more financial sense to just pay him 350 Capt pay while he continues to fly his present 7ER Capt slot and use the full course / sim time for someone that the company can get the full two years of use out of them.

Oh so they do it based on age basically? So a 30 year old wouldn’t have to worry about getting bypassed?

Because it’s not worth using an expensive training month plus OE on someone with very little payback. It’s cheaper for them to just pay protect you in your current position and upgrade someone who will be there longer. It’s only ever a factor for pilots over 60, and more often 63. There are a lot of nuances to who gets bypassed and when, well beyond the scope here.

One anecdote though. When I went to the -400 years ago, my sim partner was a captain who wanted a bypass and didn’t get it. He had 7 months left, and was a bit grumpy about having to train.

*edit* DWC CAP10 beat me to it.
