I get what you are saying, but just as a counterpoint, delta management choosing to have an eclectic fleet is management’s choice. AA has more aircraft than us and does so with 4 fleet types. Just because we like ordering one of everything should not preclude pilots from having predictability in our bidding.

I don’t think CR has ever implied the complexity of the fleet drives less frequent AEs. They just think their big ones save training costs. That may or may not be true, although it’s plausible since you essentially stretch out seat locks when AE frequency drops. Since it’s unknowable how things would have played out with monthly AEs, the company is left to inflate their own confidence in the path they took and their “data-driven” metrics. IMHO they think pretty highly of their decision processes…despite (again, IMHO) their frequent and consistent mistakes and misjudgments.

And somehow they managed to pump out far more information about the bidding situation.
And they had to manage a TDY system that ran monthly on top of that.
No, the reason it is the way it is is because they think it gives them some kind of operational/psychological advantage. Like making you actually call a person to call in sick.

Delta could easily reduce the training churn by pay banding all the narrow body jets like they just did with the 767-4/330/350, which removed the pay incentive to jump from one fleet to the next. I wish they had added the 76/75 fleet to the upper pay band, but it’s a start in the right direction.
