If you did have a “family life event” like a wedding that you are the best man in, is training helpful at all in working with you or are you pretty much on your own? I know there is no guarantee
I had a major life event, and they did not work with me in the least. I hope you have better luck.

YMMV, BWYWWWYB, etc.

I sent you a PM.

I believe it’s prior to earliest conversion date, not bid closing?

In the case of the OP (2 Aug expiry vs 1 Aug conversions), I guess it amounts to the same thing: No soup for you!

Yep, if you bid on an AE where you have a major life event that you MUST have off during the conversion window (or honestly after), you're rolling the dice if you don't have vacation over those days and select to retain it (which I believe you lose pay protection for).

Sucks that we can't bid on training dates or anything and have zero control, but unfortunately that's the way it is because...Delta.

Also this company, like all companies, really doesn't care about us employees... so the sooner people learn that, the better.

That’s great that BS is giving us more info now than we have gotten in the past. We can agree to disagree but I’m sticking to the fact that we should be kept in the loop more with what networking is thinking and what the next 6 months look like. I know I’m probably coming across as dumb and ignorant but I’m confident they can do better.

My buddies with business 9-5 type jobs have a meeting every single day which management discusses any new information with them. If everything here is constantly changing, which it is, then why don’t we have daily meetings/information posted discussing those changes? 99% of this forum is guessing and speculating. Daily meetings like a quick 5-10 minute video from network and planning would solve that. Just food for thought. I’m not here to change your mind!
I am the opposite in that I think that is the worst possible thing they could do. Why get an update on Monday when the Tuesday update changes things, then the Wednesday update changes Tuesday's? Talk about an overload of completely useless information. I don't need to know that they're thinking about adding 30 ATL 320A, and 20 DTW 320A, oh wait, now we want 20 ATL 320A, and 30 DTW 320A, oh wait, maybe will shift that flying to SLC and add 50 SLC 320A, oh wait...

I mean technically all that matters is what they post on an AE, but even that doesn't matter because they don't even have to fill all the positions they post. So no, I do not want weekly updates on what is in their minds because that will just lead to a constant yo-yo of emotions over endless possibilities most of which won't even pan out. Does anyone remember the whole A220 debacle where for months they were saying it was going to be in a certain base (LAX?) then BAM, the AE posts and it's a completely different base that wasn't even on the radar? I just enjoy where I'm at, and take each AE posting as it comes and evaluate the options that are presented and act accordingly.

How incredibly ironic. I was being facetious, but dang. You are never, ever, going to get that. Ever. Nor should you - you’d have a stroke.

Flexy, I don’t know how long you’ve been in this business or how many years you have left but from someone a lot closer to the end than the beginning - relax, roll with it and let stuff happen. It’s a cliche but it really is a marathon, not a sprint.

Yeah I've been strategically disappointing my family for years with the fluid nature of the job that they no longer give me crap when I miss anything. I still make an effort but now when I can't make it everyone just assumes I'm flying and nobody makes a big deal about it. There's rumors of an October AE floating around already

Sometimes the best course of action is to stay in your lane. We (pilots) barely digest the mandatory pubs updates and weekly emails. It would be overwhelming to be updated with every iteration of fleet, destination and schedule change being contemplated. Having worked with product roadmaps in the tech industry I can confirm firsthand that providing daily updates with planning information doesn't reduce speculation, it multiplies it. Did you really want to know the 18 variations of the AE that is coming or would you rather just get the actual posting? Can you imagine the expectations and disappointments on a daily basis. If you have a desire to work with information of that detail, there are management jobs that you may find interesting. As a cog in the wheel it's better for the entire operation of we stay focused on flying A-B and not waste bandwidth contemplating a dozen nonexistent possiblities.

Wow. Just looked and it's been 6 months since the last posted AE. That's a long time even for Delta. Usually about a quarter apart sometimes as few as 2 months and the longest I recall was about 5 months, during normal times of hiring of course. I have no plans to bid so it is moo for me but we must be running out of excess new hire positions. Hmmm.

It’s annoying to say the least. Quite a few guys I know are stuck in NYC for longer than expected due to the lack of AES.
