Select "Convert after Junior". It moves you to the back of the line and you arrive closer to your projected seniority if that matters.

I did this once and it bought me significantly less than a month of delay. You may or may not be at the back of the line depending on how many senior to you select the same option. “The line” may also be completed WELL before the end of the conversion window.

I can understand that. Hard to plan around something that’s being decided by people who can’t stick to a plan if they even had one to begin with.

I know, but with all the people posting on widget pages like the 18hr long call / two day prior assignments is breaking news, I am quick to correct any time I see someone make references to the old PWA.

I had a similar experience on a 365-day AE bid with "Convert after Junior." It was a Spring AE and I was relatively senior in the award group so I reasonably expected to not convert until at least a couple months after the award. As it turned out most of the junior pilots were simply moving to base from NYC on the same fleet. Since those pilots didn't need training I was in class within 3 weeks and had a vacation week liquidated. You'll have to be able to accept at least some risk of that happening if you plan to put a bid in.

For sure. Looking at the previous AEs it looks like each category is almost grouped. Let’s say you get ATL330B, odds are everyone within that specific category will train within a few weeks of each other. The whole “convert after jr” will buy you a couple weeks but sometimes that’s all you need.

If you did have a “family life event” like a wedding that you are the best man in, is training helpful at all in working with you or are you pretty much on your own? I know there is no guarantee
