Serious question for a minute (usually I like to just mess around and have some fun posting) but when it comes to iCrew bidding, if you click “convert after junior” and put a “Y” does that mean you will train after the junior folks who get award that category? Is there any negatives for doing that or is it not a good idea?

Could be good or could be bad, depending on your situation and outlook. If you are senior in a category going to one where you are junior you may want to train later to keep seniority for stuff like summer bidding, GS opportunities or vacation bidding. The bad is you are not paid in the new category until later, so you may be giving up a raise for awhile.

Thanks! Do they still have to convert you within the conversion window or do you lose that protection? From what it looks like on the projected training list, it may just buy you and extra couple weeks before having to go to IQ which is good

They still have to convert you within the window. If you're junior, then yes, you're only buying you a few weeks/month or two. But It doesn't mean the END of the window, just that mean you'll train after other people. It is still possible they'll train and convert everyone else in the first two months, and then it's your turn - so you go pretty quickly still.

It's really just a crapshoot - although when the new bidding process for AE training goes into effect that should be nice. But that's far away - March 2025..

Another thing to consider is that a lot of people bid with percentage qualifiers in place. AFAIK, those qualifiers are based on your projected place after all AE conversions. If you don't select "convert after junior", as a senior bidder you will be one of the first converted. Therefore, it's possible that you face a not-insignificant amount of time bidding in a category where pilots senior to you haven't been converted out and pilots junior to you haven't started training yet. You could end up bidding almost half a year several 10's of percentage points lower than anticipated, especially if you're moving into a small category. If you don't mind your current category, it might be worth it just for that.
