Heard from crew resources that the next AE is late June but they won’t start sending people to training until September. Is this even allowed?

I wouldn't know why not, they can train them anytime they want within the window. They could even train them after the window, they just turn into the pumpkin and get paid to sit at home and await training.

Realistically, a late June AE wouldn't close until early July, putting August the first month for conversions. As they routinely can't get their stuff together, the only people going convert in August would be those who don't need training and where they really need pilots now.

In at least 2 base visits (ATL & DTW), Crew Resources has said 2nd half of June. And also that it will be heavy on the A side.
Of course they can. The only contractural limit is on the last conversion. The timing must to be due to running out of NH spots, but they won’t take anyone off the line for the summer season.
