Admittedly I haven't. But that is a stagnant fleet. The 330 is growing and will go more places. But hey whatever floats your boat.

DTW and ATL will see smaller movement. NYC 330 may actually get bids on the next AE.
LAX 350 will have to grow substantially for it to become much more junior. Its very small, and it’s currently the most senior category in the company in many respects. (Very close to MSP 330.) There are a lot pilots who live in or around SoCal that don’t/won’t want to commute to SEA.

With that said, I certainly expect it to grow in the next year or two as more frames come online. The company said during the last base visit that they expect the LAX 350 to be doing SYD, HND, CDG, LHR and possibly AMS and ICN by end of 2023.

Any guesses on how the new AE process would work? Would it be like “I’ll bid the —- if I can start raining after —- date?” Or something like that? Or maybe it’s bidding for training after the award comes out? Either way it’ll be a nice addition!

The NN said, “Established pilot's ability to bid for training window and Sim Periods” in the AE/training section.

My guess would be: in seniority order, bid/select a month. Probably as part of the AE bid itself. I would guess CR knows the training capacity when they build the AE, and might have something like “x number of vacancies, with y slots in the 1st month, x slots in the 2nd month, etc. “

Next level would be have an option akin to the “percentage” or “Lineholder” columns, so you could bid for a position, but only if you can train in X month.

Seems there will be a way to bid for A periods or D periods, or similar. maybe like the old line of time system, or our current CQ pairings?

We’ve been clamoring for more control over AE training forever. Will be another big QOL win for many.

I think FedEx has something where they post the training slots for the month and people bid on them. If you don’t bid, though, you don’t get pay protected (only the 757 pays different there, probably not a big deal for most).

Excellent point. I'd be shocked if a similar thing w/r/t pay protection wasn't in this AIP. Will be interesting to see the specifics, but there will be some tradeoff between having some say in training timing and pay protection.

the 765 is our biggest Boeing. The 330/350 are great planes. But there are a lot of older pilots who just don’t want to make that kind of change late in their careers. Some did go to the 350….for the pay. But that’s not a draw anymore. I do agree with something someone else said. This will be short term. But I stand by what I said. Over the next 5 years the ATL 765 will be the senior category in the airline.

Easily. As long as the 7ER category exists.

it already is the most senior. Most of these hypotheses never come to fruition. Are 350 pilots really going to commute or go to training for a little more variety over seniority? Doubtful. Same hypothesis that people will go to widebody and not deal with domestic rotations anymore. Except that didn’t happen and tons upgraded. I still think motivation to upgrade will be even more now than chasing widebodies. Keeping widebodies not that senior as everyone thinks. Especially with growth and recovery still from Covid.
