Prepare yourselves… 2023 AEs

BTW the amount you see for Social Security and Medicare is only half of the tax liability. The other half paid on your behalf from Delta is a tax on your wages that is not clearly disclosed on your paycheck. As an added bonus to the gov, if an employee earns taxable wages from multiple employers, each employer is liable for social security tax up to the base wage cutoff. The employee is still capped even if they have multiple employers. The .gov loves pilots with side hustles, because they double up on the employer side of SS tax collection.

In other words it all comes out in the wash.
Actually somewhat amusing that we are even having this conversation

Sounds like the AE has been pushed to August* now?

I'll take a hit on that for reading too literally. I thought the IRS tax bite was 25% on bonus checks(not the 22%) so I possibly made a bad assumption when it was stated as a 35% bite. I looked at it as EOY what was the IRS % marginal hit(bite) gonna be. In retrospect he probably meant the total .gov bite was 35%.... but I should have asked for clarification (asking seems to go sideways regardless)..... but still, my bad.
It really started when Tropical said not everyone got 5 or 6 figure retro checks but his career was also savaged by age 65 and seems to hold senior pilots responsible for that legislation. I was truly curious how his circumstances came about. The answer appears to be 5-6(or more) years in RJ world with no hiring due to the age 65 rule change, but also more importantly, the impact of 9-11 , recession, bank failures, .com bubble burst, real estate, explosion of RJ's, bankruptcies, mergers, and oil going from $16 bbl to $126 bbl. IOW, a whole host of things that aren't even related to age 65. Then another 5-6 years in LCC (with COVID) until 2022 when he finally gets hired at Delta.
I get a little chafed when I'm blamed for (and called greedy) for things I had nothing to do with and they are essentially minor(age 65) compared to the real culprits of that period of time. But, I can also acknowledge (even though I'm not responsible) that it would have been a tumultuous, emotional/financial roller-coaster in hopes of eventually grabbing the brass ring, for which I'm happy for him to have finally gotten here.
edit, sorry Crazy..... "UPSET... RECOVER". Need input on hypothetical, eventual A/E's that will eventually come to get this thread back on track

So less than a week after schmelzer said it was in July, it changes to August.
whatever planning framework the crew resources team uses needs a total revamp. and probably a new personnel package. Every wrong call they make equates to less predictability and more chaos for us. At some point we as a group have to stop giving them free passes and "likes" on the company facebook page. Wouldn't it be nice if their bosses held them accountable. But Delta doesn't do accountability above the worker bee (ie, line pilot) level.

Just looked at sky hub today and it looks like BS said June/July for the next AE. That wasn’t a rumor. Where is this August AE rumor coming from if ~10 days ago BS himself said June/July? Sorry if I missed something. Been flying my tail off lately!

I never said I was short on cash. I was just pointing out that 35% goes poof via taxes on the day of the check.
Yes, it wil "come out in the wash" but a lot of you missed that for a guy (not me) who was just coming off year 1 pay, which for most of us was a cut, it just paid off the debt he ran up on new hire pay.
Remember while there are outlier 25 year old 7ER captains, the average new hire is still pushing 40. Many new hires have real adult bills, kids in college etc.
When I was on new hire pay, it took one full check and a bit of the next to pay my mortgage. And I live in a small house in a medium cost area (Va Beach) nevermind training pay.
I never cried "poor me" from a retro pay. I just pointed out that 39% went poof before I saw it. So the other guy reporting 35% gone which was poo-pooed was indeed correct.

Not just us. The pax who pay our salaries are getting thrown around like rag dolls. I can’t remember the last time an itinerary I purchased was the routing and the timing I selected and I know I’m not alone. Where I used to get complimented by neighbors (on things not in my control) I now get crapped on (for other things outside my control). Our revenue premium (and therefore our profit sharing) relies at least a little on a reliable operation and an itinerary that matches that which one purchased. Luckily the lack of supply is keeping our seats full, but sooner or later our brand loyalty will be under significant threat if this avoidable chaos isn’t mitigated significantly.
