How does “biz is so robust that we are pulling many sli’s this summer and delaying a shuffle type AE for 2-3 months to cover line flying and only train to cover CQ and initial” get to “ the good times are over, prepare for displacements and furloughs?”

Sarcasm and Covid aside, during recessions there is only a 5% or so pullback in seat miles, then around 2.5 years later they recover to the previous high and the growth resumes. Fortunately for everyone here, we aren't going from 3-pilot cockpits to 2, aren't growing DCI, aren't outsourcing mainline to Alaska and we even have better scope language. The final nail in the coffin for furloughs is the 3% retirements per year. Even with age 67, it takes a company the size of Delta with, a menagerie of fleet types, YEARS- at least 3- to stop the train, run it backwards and then get it going in the original direction. They won't do this twice.
That's what SILS are for...

no, they will open back up NYC717 and we will be displaced back to 5 leg NYC days so this all comes full circle from Covid
As one NYC220A told me when I came off UNA “**** you guys, you should have been furloughed. We picked up the slack while you sat at home” while he was bragging about how much he made on GS’s …… lol

2. Zero panic. Slowing training in the summer to prioritize able bodies in seats with instructors flying.
3. No. Separate issues. It seems many are prioritizing travel over other wants, regardless of global economic conditions.
