Maybe one day! As much crap as people talk about the NB trips, there’s a reason why a lot of pilots in the top 10,000 won’t leave it. I have no idea why but talk is cheap and even tho word on the street is NB FO stinks, there’s A LOT of folks willing to do it by choice. So because of that I don’t see it changing anytime soon. Why would it? A lot people enjoy it for some reason so there you go. I personally would take the plug on any wide body at any base and commute by choice over staying in base as a NB FO but that’s just me. Thank God we have a ton of pilots who think the exact opposite as I do! To each their own. That’s the beauty of this career!

At least they're consistent.

I mean pre-Covid ER was still doing Europe out of Slc. Not really comparable to today. But yeah “still evaluating” is my bet on next AE, LOL

I had a 330 jumpseater a couple months back tell me the reason they're evaluating still SLC for the 330 was that they were having issues with the 330 taking off fully loaded out of SLC in the summer. Said they'd have to make a fuel stop in MSP or DTW before crossing the pond. Anyone hear anything about this?

I think the delay is more about them waiting for the 787 get here so they can put that in SLC. 😁

Sounds like a job for the 330-800, no? 🤔

Whether its a base or not the 330 is doing the flying so that line of reasoning doesn't make a whole lot of sense

yes I non-reved on one of these scenarios. To be fair it was 100+ and since AMS/CDG leave around 2 both had to go to DTW or MSP. We landed in CDG almost 2 1/2 hour late, AMS got MSP and I looked them up and they got in and out in about 45 minutes. They did it for a few days in a row as the temps were that high, something that hit the west coast with heat. LHR is a later departure so they were fine. 330-900 neos too.

not sure why that would evaluate the base though as there is nothing else really that can do SLC-Europe in 100+ temps. It’s not frequent enough (fuel stops) to say a base isn’t worth opening, imo. Supposedly there is talks about extending 34R too. Similar to Denver having a 16k runway.

Speaking of AEs and conversion windows - does anyone recall if there is anything in the contract regarding compensation if the company upgrades out of seniority order? I remember hearing something about this but can’t find it in the PWA.
