Because of how the company is now staffing less for widebody, currency is less of an issue because you are flying every day on reserve

Agreed. I'm glad we fly for an airline where that's the norm. I seem to remember a post from another pilot at another airline stating something like "if you didn't want to fly as the relief guy then you shouldn't have bid the relief pairings." As if "relief pairing" meant permanent relief guy.

that’s the way it should work ideally but doesn’t always. I did RFO on 6.5 of 8 legs last month.

Particularly for a former 121 pilot, I would take 330 and never look back. I think most mil folks and their families would do best with that option too, as long as they understand the adjustment down the road - should they want to dabble in the NB trenches as a B or A some day. It’ll be a rough transition, but at a much better pay level and with the individual and the family having already figured out some of the gig.

Historically correct. With so much training going on and “new” pilots in each seat, some of us middle of the pack guys are taking it in the shorts. Maybe the next couple months will be different. As an aside, I do not mind being relief too much. I’ve been in the seat over 5 years and quite comfortable. Just an observation as of late and how it might go for new hires in the WB B.
