Stop toying with my emotions. News of a Miami plus up has me hoping but my pragmatic side knows it’ll never happen.

Someone asked about SLC and they said possibly around fall of 23 and they avoided directly answering a BOS base. My hunch reading all 3 on the stage body language is that BOS may not happen at all.
I think they’re not going to make any major changes until the staffing situation stabilizes. They’re afraid of generating unnecessary training churn. Both SLC330 and BOS320 clearly make sense, but they seem content with the status quo for now.

As a New York NB guy, I don't mind the lack of BOS base because I love the overnight there and the best gym in the domestic system. I'm not opposed to a BOS base because I'm genuinely curious to see how it shakes up NYC categories and seniority, not because I have my eye on anything, but because seeing how people behave sometimes is interesting.

A lot of NYC guys live closer to BOS (NH specifically.)

NYC would go even more junior amongst the A's and widebody B's. Opposing this idea is the fact that most widebody guys wouldn't be willing to downbid to the 320.

and if you throw BOS330 into the mix, that probably creates a training waterfall.

And the 220 is in the mix as well, which is the one fleet that could handle the training churn right now.

Somebody, I can't recall who, but he seemed to know policy pretty well, indicated that once you crossed a certain departure threshold per day, a base was required. I've looked for that info, but I can't find it. With the return of all of the BOS gates, and the number of departures planned precovid, based on said individuals statements, we would exceed the number requiring a pilot base.

Scope defines a hub based on average daily departures. That’s is completely separate from a base.

aaahhh, maybe this is what he was trying to say. Although it would be odd to have a hub, but no pilots I guess.

20%? That would make them 25:10 for a 21:00 trip today. I think the optimizer is more than capable of keeping credit about the same and barely moving the needle on trip QOL. The only trip construction improvements are for the outliers. Look at your trips and tell me how many have back to back <12 hr overnights? How many where the 2.5 hr min day would actually raise the credit of the trip? How many 4 hour sits do you have? I'm a NB pilot and none of those affect my trips. And if they do apply to you, I guarantee the trip credit won't improve by 20%.
