At worst you live with the decision until your seat lock is up, front load your 401k/investment vehicles early in your career and make a downward move for QOL when the timing makes sense.

Not a bad strategy, but I personally couldn’t stomach 2 years of being at the bottom.

I’m extremely glad I won’t be near the bottom of either the A or B list when the music stops. Sucks for those that have been and will be.

Its all a matter of individual perspective. If you were senior and had great trips pre optimizer, then being the left seat plug sounds awful. For me personally, i was the left seat plug at my previous life during COVID. It was tolerable. I've seen what the plug gets here in my base and i could live with it for the money. I plan on taking the first available upgrade in base and buying a home, paying it off and then bidding WBB when I can. That's the plan.....as long as the world doesn't implode.

I sure hope Taiwan isn't attacked and NATO stays out of conflict. Probably a good idea for new hires to upgrade ASAP and pay off debt just in case

Make hay while the sun is shining. It won’t always be.

there’s another over at United touting that he’s the “youngest *fully qualified* 737 captain,” obviously trying to grab that clout before the person a week behind him in training finishes OE

The down bid might bite someone. When the music stops (or slows down considerably) seats will be harder to come by. The "lock breaker" first CA bid will be used up too. Just something to think about. I don't think I could go back to my FOrmer life at this point. At least not willingly, and definitely not without some serious financial adjustments.

Back on topic, BS said at the LCP meeting this week that the next AE will likely be May/June. No other details, but he did answer that the SLC 330 is likely in the fall. The others danced around the BOS subject which tells me it is not happening anytime soon.

and no you won’t be an international captain, you’re going to Orlando followed by 4 legs the next day.

I am positive somewhere around the world there is a younger 767 captain. I remember reading about a 747 in their twenties a few years ago.
