To be clear: Not every position in every base.

For now.

Just for any lurkers who may not know, every AE (vacancy bid) resets the positions which may be offered to NH's. There is much debate over whether WB flying will continue to be available to NH's in the medium to long term. In the very short term, it's certainly possible WB's will be available to those with a high last-4 of their SSN (XXX-XX-9999 is best). Good luck.

I cannot imagine a worse way to start a career at this airline than spending most of your time sitting in the Jumpseat, first break all the time, making sure the captain remembers to drink his Metamucil right before his break so he has the energy in his calves to press on the brakes when they approach the gate, and be an utter annoyance to all of the “seasoned veterans” flying these wide bodies. Barf.

Thats basically what every Cathay Pacific Second Officer has done for the last 30 years. Considered the best gig in that airline(from a QOL standpoint).

lolol is it really that bad?

Even as someone who has been here for years, I’d still be 90%+ on the 330, which is hardly any different than getting it as a new hire. I can’t wait to escape the NB grind, 90% or not

That’s not how it works here - at least not in New York. At the brief it is determined which FO needs a landing the most and that is who gets the landing after the Captain. So generally you get first break about half the time no matter seniority.
