the AE conversion window, posted at the top of the memo, is what matters. If the beginning of that window is after your seat lock expiration, you’re eligible.

On that topic, when does a seat lock officially start?

So for my example, the AE conversions would have to be May 2023 - whatever, right? An April conversion wouldn’t work because my lock is up mid April? Thanks for the response!

Mine started the day the AE results were posted. I’m assuming that’s the norm. It’s also listed in iCrew under the AE tab

Because they usually post conversion windows based on bid periods (which start on the 1st of month or close like 31JAN for FEB), yes you’re correct. So basically if they run an AE that closes in April or later you’ll be eligible. March or before not so much. They have been waiving some freezes lately so depending on your from/to categories you may get something anyways. Never hurts to have a standing bid in for what you want.

Correct, lock starts on the day of award.

For the new folks, ALWAYS bid what you want. They have been known to waive seat locks.

Even if your desired category does not have posted vacancies. There are always awards in categories not posted, and/or in excess of what is posted due to folks bidding out.

Or they don't like the results so they pull down awards, like they did with the 737 and 7ER A bid.

Why do they even bother to post vacancies at all? Does the union have any grounds to hold them to filling the vacancies they posted?

At spirit they have to post if they won’t backfill any vacancies, every primary must be filled too. (I think, NK dudes can correct me).
