Alaska TA Passes- Joining UPS as first movers
Alaska, who’s contract substantially lagged the Big 4, made large gains in QOL and compensation.
-Union Control of Rotation Construction
-150%-200% premium pay for Re-Routes
-Introduction of PBS
-Long Call - 14 hours
-Training Day- 5 Hours
- 14.9/4/4 compensation bump
This contract was about moving their QOL up to the Big 4 and in a few areas they surpassed us. Previously, they severely lagged the industry in pay, their new 2022 rate is 7.4% above our current PWA(73N). 14.9% raise was not enough to match inflation during the period between their last contract.
Passed 82% based on substantial gains relative to their previous PWA.
Will the Big 4 also make substantial gains to QOL?

Not a chance. Retro is a joke. They’re moving to PBS which is a huge concession and a large productive gain for the company. With that in mind, all they could gin up is 14.9/4/4? Like I said. Well I’ve changed my mind. Huge smelly turd…

I'll pass on the smelly soft turd that spreads well on a cracker like Roquefort cheese. No thanks. Besides, Jerry said a 43 % increase with retro is coming any day now.

Yes turd odor and consistency matters. If the UAL TA would have passed as it was we would all be screwed. Alaska guys have raised the bar nicely in a few QOL areas - Holiday pay, 14 hour long call, 5 hours training pay and some others. It might be a turd based solely on pay rates but Alaska always lagged us and now they lead us so we can at least build on their TA. Oh yeah - I thought QOL was paramount this cycle? This discussion make me wonder who does # 2 really work for?
I also don't think those rate would pass here but we should be able to beat those rates.
