It would make sense, but no such thing as separate instructor base, at least for now.
As instructors bid for in-department schedules they can indicate a preference for off site training and indicate the location, but that’s the extent of it.

Doesn’t mean they will get it or will get it every time.

Translation - if you live on the west coast and want to teach in Slc, it’s a good plan, but just be prepared to teach in Atl as well.
You fleet CTC can answer your questions.

They are pretty good at honoring it, at least on the ER. Everyone that wants MIA gets it.

Have they hired applicants with less than 750 hrs Delta time?

Not sure.
I suppose an exception is possible, but they’d have to be completely out of applications.

One can apply with less, but to get a SLI interview with less than 750 is not likely, imho.

Default FO/CA SLI

Hello all and Happy New Year!

Quick question for those who are familiar with SLI hiring/working practices under the new contract.
Can a FO who works as SLI bid CA while working as SLI? If so is that an internal process or has to be whithin AE? Finally, how is OE scheduled? Once upgraded what will be the the pay CA or FO? Thanks

You can put your name on the list to do an upgrade in-house. It will take time to get to you. Once you complete OE, you will be paid at your CA rate during your fly months, and SLI FO rate during your teaching months.

Thanks. How long does it usually take to get the upgrade?

Just FYI, an SLI job at DAL is a competitive position. Since the contract has been settled, all the vacancies have dried up. Currently there are no fleets accepting applications, and the last mention of an opening was back in October.

Even when there are vacancies, you don't just fill out the form and get the job. BTW, CA SLI positions are like hens teeth, that is its very rare that there are openings without a ton of people applying.

Not just DAL. At UAL they're last opening had like 750 applicants for a few dozen positions.
