Default Economy Light vs Economy Classic

With the strong dollar, Mr. vagabond and I are thinking of going to LHR. Delta has an attractive fare on Economy Light. Economy Classic is more expensive.

Looks like Light means no seat selection allowed and changes will cost more money. Are those the only differences? Will we get more than breadsticks for dinner? Will we be seated in the middle seat wedged between two hirsute and large men?

Definitely not the forum to ask. But best guess would be middle seats not together in coach. And a coach meal. As far as who you are seated between fate is the hunter. Sounds like an international HK fare which is a trash fare. Domestic HK is just above trash. I wouldn't book it for myself, but the company books my deadheads lower than that. So....

International coach meals aren't too bad and sometimes better than first class depending on your taste

Buy the cheapest ticket you can. You’re essentially buying the same thing, a ticket on an airplane to LHR.

As for sitting together, make sure you book both tickets on the same reservation. Delta blocks off several rows in the back so that families can be seated together. If at checkin you are not seated together, ask the agent to be moved together.

Buttigieg is coming down hard on airlines for these harsh practices, so hopefully this gets even better in the future.

I think they are more targeting parents being split up from their kids, not two adults being separated.

The seats blocked by time the flight is checked in are for families with children as mentioned above. Additional seats are blocked for groups or couples to select at booking.... which you don't get off you choose a fare with no seat assignment. I don't recall seeing anything pressuring airlines to seat adults together.
