The PEB is an independent body. The mediator does what I said. You can expound on what you think they decide.

The PEB functionally has about 3 weeks to produce a proposed settlement starting from scratch. If you don’t think the mediator is not going to play a big part in that what can I say.

Do you think the NMB is looking more at inflation figures or the proposed TAs from other airlines like us, to evaluate "reasonableness"?

I have no idea what our mediator might look at. Historically it’s been your standing amongst your peers.

So what do airlines do when literally every single one of the peers (the NMB is likely to consider) are all in the exact same boat we are? Covid has realigned everyone to the same contract cycle. There simply isn't anyone to leapfrog. The closet is Alaska at upwards of 24%

The mediator has a job to do. That job is to facilitate an agreement. They decide the schedule of the negotiations and when there is an impasse. Period. The fear mongering around PEBs and requirement to pander to the mediator is a joke.

Alaska’s TA doesn’t hit 24% DOS at any longevity step in either seat, and is only 14.9% for top of scale.

Not so much a joke as one false bullet point the ADG uses to push the fear/unknown agenda. Very much like the “imposed” contract that has never happened in the modern airline era.

How do you think they decide when there is an impasse?

When the parties are entrenched and there is no further movement. That's why we open economic sections last, so they don't stall the process.
