No. They are in the process of closing the SEA 7ER category, with ongoing displacements a little at a time (in the hopes they will minimize the training and secondary displacement churn). They already have 339 and 359 deliveries over the next couple years to account for much of this. It will not bee a large painful event for the pilot group writ-large (obviously, there are some individuals who are quite pained...)
This is not a surprise, nor a big deal. Keep in mind, a good bit of the contraction will be via retirements and natural attrition. The rest will be fairly gentle like the SEA ER displacements have been.

what could happen is less openings on AE’s and let it naturally shrink itself system wide with the added retirements like you said.

Where would we be sourcing used A350-1000s from??? It’s literally a brand new type. What airline had retired them in any significant numbers to put them on the used market??? This doesn’t sound plausible. Perhaps your source meant more A359s like the LATAM deal???

And Ed talking about future wide body orders:
"And, yes, I know there's rumors about are we making a widebody decision, well, there's no decisions, there's no news, nothing to announce at all. But at some point, we're going to have to. And but, we've got the capital and the capacity to do that within our model."

Don’t think it’s as bad as it sounds. The Fleet count on Deltanet shows 45 763’s in service. Down to mid 30’s would be 10 at the most. Still a lot of international flying out there. And we all know how retirement plans of aircraft tend to go.

Yeah I’m not aware of any used 350-1000s out there, I would assume they meant -900 too. There were 4 more LATAM ones, and a handful from Hainan and SAA, Lufthansa took them all.

From an article on the subject;
While we made some educated guesses regarding alternate customers for Qatar Airways' undelivered (and then canceled) A350s, it looks like the jets will actually end up going to the oneworld alliance member. According to AIB Family Flights, there are at least five that have been fully assembled and painted in Qatar Airways livery. These airframes, all A350-1000s, are listed below, and include their most recent activities:

So this sounds like we are going to drag our feet with this wide body order while many other airlines are investing in growth and also securing delivery slots. There was also a lot of talk about Ed’s love of JV’s. So it sounds like Delta 101 going forward. “Capacity within our model” sounds like limited wide bodies and reliance on JV’s.
