Ah, I agree. The PS check comment was odd. We do need to start planning here soon for these WB fleets. Not super dire yet, but it’s getting there more and more …

EDIT to add. IMO once the dominos start to fall, it’s going to be a cascade, 45 763s (built between 1990-1999) , 21 764s (2000-2002) and 32 332/333s (2003-2007)
that’s almost 100 WB aircraft where the youngest is 16 years old and most are over 20.

I think we are on the same page, we have time now, but not a whole lot of time, to figure this out. I just hope we decide and start working on it soon and not wait til something like P&W AC lose ETOPS before we put a plan into place.

I tend to agree. The rumor continues to be that the hang up is actually with RR and not Airbus. But its not like there is another engine option on the 350 AND RR is in a dire financial position so they are likely not in a position to give engines away for pennies like Delta wants.
its either pay RR what they want or buy boeing and spool up another program. Those are the options, I don’t see a third choice. I don’t get the paralysis on the subject. This is the second time RR has reportedly torpedoed a deal. We have a few 763s floating around that have lost their ETOPS, if we don’t act soon I wonder if the rest will follow before we can replace the fleet.
350 with RR engines and 787 with GE engines would allow us to play both manufacturers off each other, but I think we may be too vested in AB to look elsewhere.

RR makes the most money on power-by-hour deals. Delta obviously saves money by doing MRO in house.
RR’s financial position is that they can’t afford not to sell engines, but they can’t sell their future revenue either. I think RR has more to lose and they are probably willing to hold out.
Delta keeps entertaining good offers from BA/GE, but again overhaul rights are a point of contention. The only reason why the max deal happened is because engine MRO came with them.

There are nearly 120 more 321 NEO's and 100 MAX10's due to be delivered. Are they replacing order 320/319 and 738? How much are pure growth, as opposed to purely replacement. All this hiring suggests the airline plans to continue to grow.
