Lots of good info on the recent townhall.
Stated Delta will eventually be an all Airbus WB fleet
New routes to be announced within next week and new WB order by end of year. Doesnt take much imagination from the hints that it'll likely be the A350-1000. A350-900ULR could also be a darkhorse candidate.
717s will return to Prepandemic fleet size. 757s being moved to routes less than 2100. 321NEO replacing it on longer routes.
All 50 seaters retired in 2023. Two class setup up on every Delta flight.

I see you quoted a post from Trip that has "sent via Tapatalk" at the bottom. Tapatalk hasn't worked for quite awhile with APC, so I'm guessing that you just quoted a post that dates to last year at the earliest. It may be a bit outdated.

Why is it ironic? Business plans change. If BA made us a good enough deal on one of their wide-bodies that did what management wanted, that all Airbus thing would be gone tomorrow.

I think the company is finally realizing the benefits of streamlining the fleet and not flying every type known to aviation. We already have a large A330 fleet that can fly a lot of what our competitors use their 777-200ERs for. If 283 ton A359s were available from the start, we probably wouldnt have experienced so many of the well documented performance issues with that fleet. Going forward, with more of those, the A350-1000 and less dense versions of the A339 with more premium seating to replace the 7ER and 764 fleets, there likely isnt a compelling reason to add the 787.
