Excellent point. Money and QOL is so good on the 73NA right now bidding WB A enternal reserve would be a pay/qol cut for clout/SJS. Pulled all my WB A bids

Are you kidding? Telling people you are an International Wide Body Captain at Delta Air Lines is worth at least.....I dunno......100K? 150K? I kid obviously, but there will be a line out the door for those spots despite that. GS trains come and go.

Focusing on quarterly numbers while a competitor grows on their terms in our premium markets will prove to be a bigger mistake than paying bilions for regionals to close them, bowing down to another regional for 300M of our own money to prevent liquidation and selling off hedges right before they spiked in value.
B6 is making money most likely on that route, but not much. They could be making a lot more with that jet utilizing it smartly. But they’re doing it because Robin Hayes is a Brit and always said B6 will fly “true” internationally across the pond. It’s bragging rights for him. It’s actually a doomass route with that jet. Let them eat cake. We and anyone flying wide bodies on same route are dusting them…. The cargo will more than pay for costs without a single pax booked. It’s posing by B6. Who cares.

How much of this thread is based on actual facts and not rumors, wishes and conjecture?

My daughter joined me on a recent LHR trip. The Heathrow express is 15 minutes with no stops to Paddington station, about 1 mile from our Hotel. We walked from Paddington to the Hotel and still beat the crew. Oh yeah not crowded with luggage racks for your bags.

Scoop

Concur. Used it once with just the wife then went back with all 5 of us. Too easy.

The recent UAL route announcement highlights a major issue with us. We do not have a fleet of range capable aircraft to meet competion or take advanatage of new opportunities. UAL will fly to more destinations in Australia and New Zealland than we do to all of Asia. We have decided to put all of our eggs in the ICN basket and let another airline using their aircraft and CREWS to fly OUR passengers to their final destination.Look back we have cancelled more Asian destinations then we presently fly into this is unacceptable and must change if we truly want to compete in the Asain market.

Fortunately for us, no one in the world is decoupling from the United States, therefore we are safe with this strategy.

UAL loss 193millions in Q1. I’ll take the Delta model.

You're falsely inferring that having a larger WB fleet is the reason they are slightly behind us. Yet their international yields avg 24%, compared to 19% domestic. Its the more profitable arm of their business. For comparison, our domestic & intl yield are both about 21%. Our net passenger revenues were almost equal, we just made 1.2 B more in domestic, they made 1B more in international.

Revenue from flying passengers in 1Q
  • UA = 10.2B
  • DL = 10.4B
Just because they can be successful with lots of WBs, doesn't mean we would. And just because we can't sustain 200 WBs, doesn't mean they can't. Their hubs are in the highest O/D markets, and can fill up WB planes better than us.

The real Delta differnece has been our "other" revenue streams, like AMEX, MRO, etc. Without this revenue, we wouldn't have made a profit soley flying passengers.
