In NYC the top 40% of A's can get Europe most of the time in the summer. In the winter (now) it takes being in the top 15% to consistently fly to Europe/Africa.

In ATL it's probably 10% and 5% (j/k well, maybe.)
Or be reserve scum and YS sniper.

This is the way. Got a few nice Europe trips this summer even being 95+% in ATL. Winter is a bit more difficult but I'll gladly yellow slip all the UIO and BOG that people seem to dump pretty often. Bidding a line is a choice

Easy....Flaps 3, then 1 second after touchdown, tap the brakes off and let the full reverse slow the plane down....fuel savings and no wear on the brakes....at least thats the way one of the LCP's teaches his landings.

And we can find that in what manual? LCP technidures are the worst.

Lol…no thanks. Thats what the autobrakes are for…let me be clear…

I DO NOT CARE ABOUT FUEL SAVINGS. I care about safety.

Reverse work better in high speed, not low speed. The problem is not the autobrakes, is the pilots NOT knowing how to use the auto brakes. Hence, your LCA advise is not as good as he believe it is.

They just approved flaps 25 landings in the 717, citing significant fuel savings if 50% of approaches are flown at this reduced flap setting. Can't wait to see how long this lasts.

What’s old is new again

See Flaps 28 landings on the Mad Dog instead of 40

Except this doesn’t work with carbon-carbon brakes.

1/2mv^2…for each brake application regardless of duration or intensity. Something something physics.

I would love it if people would stop kicking the auto brakes off at 100-80 and then jamming their toes down for the rest of the deceleration, and closing the reversers as soon as they are idle. Can easily taxi off the runway with them at idle and deployed, as that article suggests.

Have you briefed that with your FOs?
