The company also insisted on us doing flaps 3 landings on the 321s when we first got them to avoid tailstrikes. No shade to the PE folks and the important job they do, but sometimes Delta acts like they know airplanes better than the manufacturers.

Like when after, the merger, Delta sent a horde of check pilots, some of whom were FOs, to show NWA crews how to fly the Pacific after they'd been doing so for like 20-25-30 years?

Long time past, but, yea, you are not incorrect.

And for fuel savings…then brakes were burned and that cost more. I haven’t done a flaps 3 landings in years, never really liked them.
