I know. We discussed the pilot hiring projections here on APC based on the recent meeting. The delayed response from Trip made me feel like there was another one. I guess this information is coming out just now?

Ha exactly. I remember when I was on the ER and those dang Airbus people were “stealing” our Hawaii flying. Then they announce that the ER has no place in Seattle and we all have to find new homes. So off to fifi, only for the high-ups to discover the shocking revelation that the NEO doesn’t have the performance to do Hawaii in the winter.
Now those dang 757 pilots are stealing our flying.

There of course was the one week in January of 2023 when we still used the 310 knots single engine performance table which created a few tech stops. Those went away as soon as performance engineering got their stuff together. The lead LCAs were surprised by the change this upcoming winter. Seems to be more of a weird network thing from what they’ve said.
Your statement seems more rooted in 757 fanboy than actual truth. I have had zero issues in the last two years aside from the company blocking 10ish off Lihue, which I don’t even think they were doing for the first six months plus. The Duke’s bartenders knew me by name in the winter of 2023

The NEO seems to do pretty fine from what I’ve seen. I’ve done a lot of Hawai’i the past 2 years. Zero issue off of KOA and HNL. OGG has been mostly fine. They usually block 10ish seats off of Kauai, but could probably sell them on most days. You can buy a lot of economy seats for 2000-2500 gallons worth of fuel savings per flight

“Why are the Hawaii flights going back to the 757?”
”We had so much difficulty with the winds last year that PE(Engineering) and the OCC requested that we shift back to the 757….”
I personally had a flight where we kicked 40 revenue pax off a Kona flight due to high headwinds. And that was January 2024 not 2023. Super glad you had no issues though.
Why don’t you go tell engineering and OCC about their fandom.

Seriously Clark?? From the September LA base visit:

Negative. SEA - KOA in January of this year. I can find the actual flight info if you’re curious. Max tanks, cost index zero. 40 revenue pax kicked to the curb. No MELs, no bad weather, just headwinds. And even 40 pax was cutting it tight on min fuel. Had we had the normal line up on 16R it would have been back to the gate.

Why were you using 16R for takeoff?
